Department of Fashion Design organized an industrial visit to ​“Shahi Exports” 4^th Phase, Peenya Industrial Area, NTTF Circle, Bangalore on 1 September 2023 B. Des Fashion Design students were divided into 2 groups and visited all departments of the industry accompanied by faculty members Dr Mamatha G Hegde, Ms Nagaveni K, Mr Goutham N and Ms Bhumika R. The Senior General Manager, H. R and Production Engineer took the students to auditorium and explained about the Shahi industry development. After the refreshments all the students were taken to various departments like fabric sourcing, storage, shrink test, fabric defect checking, packaging, trim section, spreading, laying, pattern cutting, stitching, finishing, dispatch etc. The Visit was exciting, thought ‑provoking and inspiring. This type of practical exposure and, interaction with concerned departmental heads such as sampling, production, finishing and, quality helped the students a lot in learning the garment production process which is a part of the course curriculum. Explanation, hospitality and, support given by Industry managers and head staffs were too good. Students were able to grasp the actual working process and challenges in the apparel manufacturing.
