Visual Design - Minors

FADVD 101

Overview

A minor program is a program of study that can be pursued in addition to a main degree program. These programs are designed to meet the aspirations of high-performing students and are often regarded as complementary to their chosen fields of study. Minor programs encourage multidisciplinary thinking and offer students a chance to explore a field of study that may not be directly related to their main degree.

FAD’s minor program in Visual Design helps students develop a strong foundation in the fundamentals of art and design. The program focuses on design in different media, including print and digital.

Programme Structure

Visual Design is a 24 credit program offered during summer semesters over a period of 3 years. Students are expected to complete 8 credits in each supplementary semester.

The program is conceived for students who excel academically and can successfully earn the requisite number of credits without any backlogs from their main degree program.

Teaching and Assessment

During each semester, students’ performance is assessed through Continuous Evaluation (CE) and a Semester End Examination (SEE). CE and SEE carry equal weightage. Students are awarded grades based on the marks scored.

Certification

The successful completion of the minor program is recognised in the certificate awarded for the main degree program.

It should be noted that a minor program is not an additional degree, but an additional qualification only.

If a minor program is not successfully completed before the main degree certificate is awarded, only a grade card will be issued and the minor program will not be mentioned in the certificate.

Admissions

Indian Nationals, International Students

Eligibility

A student is eligible to register for a minor program only if he or she does not have any backlogs of the main degree program. Only students who have successfully earned the defined number of credits for their first to fourth semesters can register for a minor program.

Application Process

Eligible students can register by submitting the filled application form to the Admission Department of the Faculty, and by paying the prescribed fee.

Progression in minor programs is subject to performance in the main degree program. Any failure in the courses of the main degree will be a deterrent to pursuing the minor program.
