Two Days Faculty Development Program


Two days Faculty Development Programme on Global Unification of Textile, Apparel, Fashion, Manufacturers, Designers, Researchers, Academicians, and Consumers- Challenges and Solutions” was conducted by the Department of Fashion Design, FAD, Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences Bangalore on 7 and 8 July 2022. The Resource person Dr. Prakash C., Director of Indian Institute of Handloom Technology, West Bengal, addressed the gathering related to present challenges in the publication process. Dr. Prakash suggested relevant solutions to various issues while processing articles and the publication process. Dr. Kantaraj T Guest Faculty BU, Advocate, Bengaluru, addressed challenges for globalization, and the integration of economies around the world, particularly through the movement of goods, services, and capital across borders. The resource person concluded by giving information about block chain in textile and apparel industries and explained about 5 blocks that are Raw material and fibre manufacture, Fabric manufacture, Garment assembly distribution and sales, and Customer information. Shri Kannan Krishnamurthy, Hon. Secretary TAI, Bengaluru highlighted on problems of the textile industry during the pre-and post-independence period. Resource person briefed about global marketing of textile products, retail prices, online fashion sales, etc. The presentation concluded with a focus on the importance of sustainability. Resource person Dr. Mamatha G Hegde, Associate Professor, and Head, FD, FAD, RUAS, gave information about Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), various Indian government schemes and methodologies for bridging the gaps between academia and the industry. The program ended with question and answer session with relevant discussions.
